ASTM B677 Super Austenitic Seamless Stainless Steel Tube TP904L For Gas Washing
904L is a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel with low carbon content. The grade is intended for use under severe corrosive conditions. It has been application proved over many years and was originally developed to resist corrosion in dilute sulfuric acid. It is standardized and approved for pressure vessel use in several countries. Structurally, 904L is fully austenitic and is less sensitive to precipitation ferrite and sigma phases than conventional austenitic grades with high molybdenum content. Characteristically, due to the combination of relatively high contents of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and copper 904L has good resistance to general corrosion, particularly in sulfuric and phosphoric conditions.
Spezilla stocks alloy 904L seamless stainless steel pipe (UNS N08904) for use in applications that require moderate to high corrosion resistance. Alloy 904L seamless stainless steel pipe is a low carbon high alloy austenitic stainless steel, originally developed to resist corrosion in dilute sulfuric acid. Because of the combination of relatively high contents of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and copper, this grade has greatly improved resistance to strong reducing acids, particularly sulfuric acid. Alloy 904L tubing is also extremely resistant to chloride attack from both pitting/crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. Alloy 904L tubing is non-magnetic in all conditions, possesses amazing toughness, and has good formability and weldability.
Because of these properties, alloy 904L seamless stainless srteel pipe is found in many applications ranging from utility scrubber assemblies, acid and fertilizer production equipment, pulp and paper processing, seawater cooling facilities and many other uses. Alloy 904L seamless stainless steel pipe is often specifically used when sulfuric or phosphoric acids are involved because of its excellent resistance to corrosion from those acids. The paper industry, gas industry, pharmaceutical industry and chemical industries also use alloy 904L seamless stainless steel pipe for its resistance properties and good use up to 400-450 degrees C. Alloy 904L can be welded, machined, heat treated, annealed, hardened and cold worked for many purposes.
