EN 1.4512 409 Stainless Steel Heat Exchanger Tubes ASTM A268 7.5 MTR Welding SS Pipe OD 60.5mm

Grade 409L (UNS S40900, EN 1.4512) is a kind of stabile version of 409, composed with proper chromium, low composition of carbon and nitrogen and adjunction of titanium, all composition appropriate make Grade 409L products have some properties, corrosion resistance, weldability and formability. Due to the lower chromium, Grade 409L was another low cost option for corrosion resistant stainless steel.

Grade 409L has a good combination of heat resistance and corrosion resistance, can be ideal for non- or lightly corrosive environments or applications. It has excellent oxidation resistance in high temperatures and good welding performance, which can be used for automotive exhaust pipes or oil equipment.

PROPERTIES:

APPLICATIONS:

Grade 409L has excellent oxidation resistance in high temperatures, and composed by extra-low carbon Ferritic structure, so it has excellent in workability compared with conventional similar grades. Due to this properties, the typical applications for Grade 409L include:

ASTM A240M – Chromium and Chromium – Nickel Stainless Steel Plate, Sheet and Strip for Pressure Vessels and for General Applications.

ASTM 480M – General Requirements for Flat Rolled Stainless and Heat-Resisting Steel Plate, Sheet and Strip

EN 10088-2 (1.4512) – Stainless Steel Technical delivery conditions for sheet, plate and strip of corrosion resisting steels for general purposes.

Corrosion Resistance:

Resists atmospheric and exhaust gas corrosion

In most atmospheres a light surface rust will form which inhibits further corrosion but makes the surface less appealing

Heat Resistance:

Generally classified as resistant to scaling in intermittent service up to 1499oF (815oC ) and up to 1247oF (675oC) in continuous service.
